A Beginner’s Guide to the Climate Emergency… Food and its impact by Brent Council

Date and time Wed, 28 July 2021  19:00 – 20:30 CEST

We all need to eat to survive…but have you ever thought about how what is on our plate may actually be threatening our planet?

About this event

Many people want to help tackle climate change, but don’t know where to start or how they can make a difference. It turns out each of us can help at every meal we eat.

Join us for the second webinar in our ‘A Beginner’s Guide to the Climate Emergency’ series, hosted by the Brent Environmental Network, where we will explore how and why food is such a big contributor to climate change. From food waste, plant-based diets and how we can grow healthy food locally – we will make sense of what this all means for Brent, and what practical actions you can take to help reduce emissions.

Our food sustainability experts will guide you through this vitally important topic – taking you on journey from the big picture of how the planet is being affected, through to the impact on London, down to initiatives in Brent.

Join us on Wednesday 28 July, from 6pm – 7.30pm, as they share their insights and tips to help you make a difference in tackling the ever-more urgent climate emergency.

You’ll hear four presentations, and have the chance to follow up with any burning questions:

Ruth Westcott, Climate and Nature Emergency and Sustainable Fish Cities Co-ordinator at Sustain

Nureen Glaves, Founder and CEO of Feed Me Good

Katie Pascoe, Brent Mutual Aid – Project Lead at ‘Let’s Grow Brent’
